Winter Solstice Hike & Picnic

  • Maxwell Falls Lower Trailhead 8399 Black Mountain Drive Evergreen, Colorado, 80439 United States (map)

Enjoy a moderate hike at Maxwell Falls & a picnic! Sneak a peek at the nearly full moon.

Let's celebrate The Winter Solstice together with a hike (or snowshoe) on a gorgeous trail to a waterfall. Mid-hike we will stop to refuel with a picnic of healthy snacks and time to reflect on the coming of Winter. I will provide substantial healthy snacks and recipes! You will bring water or hot tea, a waterproof mat to sit on, additional snacks if desired, proper footwear (hiking boots and maybe microspikes if icy trails or snowshoes if 6 or more inches of snow), hiking poles and a headlamp (just in case).

We will meet at the lower trailhead parking lot at 11:30am. and leave for the hike no later than 11:45am. The hike is about four miles and 800 feet elevation. There are no restrooms at the trailhead. Mid way through the hike, we will find a picnic spot to set up for a little break. I will bring several homemade snacks. Recipes will be emailed out after the event. I will do my best to honor any food allergies. Upon ticket purchase, please email me with any food allergies! Email: your.whole.life.vision@gmail.com

The moon will be about 85% illuminated and rises at 2:32pm. Perhaps we will have the opportunity to view as we head back to the trailhead and most certainly on our drive back home.

This event will be weather dependent with an option to reschedule or cancel if there is substanial rain or blizzard conditions that would make traveling to the hike and/or being on the trail unsafe.

Please will out the waiver here
